hello I'm a 45 years young Spina Bifida sfferer being paralysed from waist down.I'm bladder incontinent and use 'uridrop' condom caths and depend breif with heavy pads. At themoment I use lubricant ]KY Jelly] prior to using caths and prior to sex because of lack of lubrication and discomfort in my penis I also think KY helps keep me 'cleaner' because I'm uncut which causes problems. any advice would be appreciated

Hi beanzo...and Welcome to the forums! :)

I also have spina-bifida, or as my son says, 'spiney-bigeda'. :)

Mine is lower than yours, and I didn't have the paralysis (right leg only) until a cord surgery (to untether cord) in '03. The alternative of not having the surgery was worse, so I feel like I came out pretty good, overall.

I don't use any lubricant to cath...I think I'm just too impatient, and want to get things done as quickly as possible. But it hasn't been a problem for me. I'm female, btw, so that may have some bearing on it too.

Since I use an intermittent cath program, I rarely use toilet paper and opt for wipes instead, as I'm concerned about fibers from the toilet paper being inadvertently introduced into the urethra during cathing. Although all wipes are not equal, some leaving less fibers than others, I prefer the moisturizing ones...they seem to be cleaner.

Where were you treated as a child? I went to Shriner's...St. Louis, Houston, and Lexington, KY.

Female. Incomplete para following a cord stroke in '03. Spina-bifida, severe scoliosis. 18 surgeries total...five spine-related: Three fusions w/hardware, two tethered cord releases.
