After four years without a UTI I think I am experiencing one. Probably Pseudomonas aeruginosa again... Multiresistant so requiring IV heavy duty antibiotic in hospital if I cannot clear it myself.

Cannot mess around too long though. For now doing all the usual stuff, drinking etc. I searched the net and came up with two possible natural options. Has anyone used these for UTI's with good results?

I've ordered wild oregano oil (http://www.kitchendo...ildoregano.html). There are studies showing it as a powerful antibiotic, including against P aeruginosa.

The other is a product called Uribiotics formula (http://www.remedy-bl...kscatheter.html)

Any experiences with these, or other natural UTI cures...?

I'll report how I go too.
Thanks in advance!

Erik

From my experience, man. Just suck it up for a day -- stay near the bathroom. Drink A LOT of water, and cranberry juice.

Also, Pomengranates, I found to be quite helpful! The juice, but eating it is also healthy.

And personally, You never know about this 'natural remedies' especially from online... I stick to TRULY NATURAL remedies like above.

Thanks Swordfish. Of course all that advice is good and I did all that too. And, yep, I agree there is snake oil out there! But in my (soon-to-be) 31 years with quadriplegia I have not been able to beat this one (multi-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa) with drinking, cranberries or anything else. Only with IV-administered heavy-duty antibiotics in hospital that upset my body routines and work life for weeks.

I did not want to post earlier but I think I can now say with good confidence that I bowled this one over with the oregano oil (did not order the other product). I got some locally in the interim as the mail from the US takes too long. No symptoms after two days of 2-3 drops (in soya milk to keep it REALLY natural). Urine still clear as a bell weeks later. Haven't seen this in many years as I'm sure I always carried a low-level underlying infection. This feels very good overall. Caution for those wanting to try it. In my research it is important to get the purest oregano oil (see my earlier post on a source - and I am not selling this myself) and I have read it is important not to use it frequently. It's very strongly fragrant and HOT! If you have an oregano plant (not dried kitchen herbs, not marjoram) and eat a few leaVES YOU'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

I did also see a post on similar success with oregano oil to mine on a US SCI forum.

Oh yeah. I also combined it with a homeopathic remedy (an hour away from the strongly fragrant oregano oil), sarsaparilla, 200C. This is of limited value to anyone trying because homeopathic remedies are tailored to individual situations.

I'm not saying this will work for everyone, every time, but it seems worth having in your arsenal should a bug strike you. This is my personal experience but is in line with some peer-reviewed research on the strong anti-bacterial properties of oregano oil.

Pomegranates is a new one for me. Thanks. I'll read up on that.

Happy Christmas!!
