The Wheelchair Sports Worldwide Foundation is the funding and marketing division of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation which provides services to over seventy member nations. The Headquarters are located at Stoke Mandeville where sport for people with spinal injuries began in 1945 after the Second World War.   Wheelchair Sports, USA, has been directed and developed by wheelchair athletes and wheelchair sports enthusiasts themselves, individuals with a first-hand understanding to the values of participation.
Wheelchair Rugby is the team sport for tetraplegics, or anybody with an upper limb impairment. The game originated in Canada when a group of tetraplegics decided to create a team sport in which they could compete. In 1984 a demonstration match during the Paralympic Games launched wheelchair rugby as an International Sport.   The Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association (CWSA), founded in 1967, is a national sport organization representing wheelchair athletes.  It is an incorporated, not-for-profit, organization recognized by Sport Canada.

It is a fast paced team sport that is played indoors on a modified basketball court by individuals who are quadraplegic, or have similar type disabilities.
