Wheelchair Accessible Cottages in Cornwall - Treworgans Farm

Treworgans Farm Holidays offer high quality self-catering wheelchair accessible adapted accommodation for the disabled, that has been developed from carefully converting cornish farm barns to provide luxurious accommodation.

Both barns have been converted from old farm buildings and have been re-designed with the disabled wheelchair user in mind. Both kitchens have a sink and surface mounted hob with clear under space legroom (the hob can be lowered if required), one bedroom in each barn has an ensuite level access shower room (with sink and toilet, grab rails and safety flooring).

We have also now bought a 4 section electric profiling bed with Softform Premier foam mattress and an electric hoist (160kg) for guests use while they holiday with us. There will be no additional charge for using them.

Both properties are accessed via a ramp and each property has a decked garden area overlooking fields. We can accommodate electric beds and hoists if necessary from a local hire company which we have done so quite regularly and care has similarly been sourced locally. We have a few items of equipment that are available for our guests to use. These are a wheeled shower chair, non wheeled shower chair, toilet seat risers, bath boards, portable toilet surround and portable alarm.

Set in mid-Cornwall near Truro, on a small family run grassland farm, we are ideally positioned to explore stunning coastlines, beautiful gardens and a multitude of nationally acclaimed attractions.

3 Night out of season short breaks are available November to March in Buzzard Watch and in Valley View (except Easter and Christmas/New Year).

Buzzard Watch, first opened in June 2004, is single storey and sleeps 4, designed with access for wheelchair users. Both bedrooms have ensuite facilities (one having a level access shower). The bedrooms can either be twin bedded or super-king size. The exposed wooden roof beams give a spacious and open dimension to the living areas and large patio doors lead off via a level threshold to the secluded garden/patio area. This area can also be accessed directly from one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is electric central heating throughout in addition to a wood burner in the sitting room. This barn has been fitted with a hearing loop for deaf clients.

Should you require any additional specialist equipment during your stay we will try to provide details of local suppliers.

Valley View first opened in July 2005 and features reverse level accommodation. The open plan living room has a spacious and open feel created by its exposed beams. There is a cozy wood burner to supplement the electric central heating. There are three bedrooms all of which are ensuite and can be either twin or super king. Although this is a two storey barn one of the bedrooms (with a level access wetroom) is on the same level as the main living accommodation therefore creating rooms which are accessible to all.

A private garden/patio area, which is equipped with seating and barbecue, can be reached directly from the main living room. The barn has been fitted with a hearing loop.

About the Farm

You are welcome to explore the farm.

There is a menagerie of free range poultry on the farm and anyone wishing to help collect the eggs would be most welcome!

At certain times of the year you can watch lambs being born from our rare breed Ryeland and Longwool sheep as well as our native Cornish Lop sows farrowing.

The farm is a haven for wildlife and is home to a wide variety of birds, butterflies and moths, plants, mammals, reptiles and interesting fungi.
