Wheelchair Holidays : Spain Accessible Holidays on the Costa del Azahar, "The Orange Blossom Coast"
Casa Azahara, is near Bunol and Macastre and is a spacious fully remodelled 6 double bedroomed Villa , with 3,600 sq metres of landscaped gardens, with private wood, infinity end pool and a south facing verandah running the entire length of the house. In the gardens, away from the main house is a small two roomed self contained Casita, this can be rented separately for parties of up to four adults or included with the main house rental for larger parties at extra cost, please enquire. The house itself is just over half an hour from Valencia; truly a City on the sea, where the ancient and modern thrive side by side and where in 2007 they will host the prestigious Americas Cup Yacht Race. Caza Azahara is close to the small towns and villages of Alborache and Macastre where you will find the real Spain. 10-15 mins away is Bunol home, of the incredible Tomatina tomato fight held every August. This delightful single storey Villa consists of 6 double bedrooms, large lounge / diner with American Kitchen, Bath and shower rooms, with wetroom facilities. The impressive full length thatched verandah/ terrace almost doubles the its summer size, giving plenty of shade for even the largest party, the house and grounds are also wheelchair friendly but not specificaly adapted. Surroundings: The house and grounds have the most spectacular panoramic views of the Mountains and the orchard filled valley beneath and are perfect for walking, biking, as well as bird spotting. The Spanish Eagle makes its home here and can often be seen soaring overhead. This is truly a place of peace and tranquillity and yet in less than 10 minutes you can be in a local bar sipping a Cerveza and sampling the delights of Tapas or a Bocadillo. Nearby Bunol, also has a direct train link in to Valencia, with trains every hour for just a few Euro: please email me and I will send you lots more pictures and details of things to do and places to see in the area surrounding the house. The House. The main house features 4 very large bedrooms and 2 doubles, all the rooms have double beds but extra singles for children and cots can be made available, by request for the largest rooms. TV/DVD players are available and either air-conditioning or fans, however the position of the house provides a cooling breeze in the late evening and you should rarely need them. The largest bedrooms in the main house have French windows that open out directly onto the shaded south facing sun terrace, just perfect for breakfast. The floors of the house are tiled in local terracotta and the rooms are tastefully furnished in a Californian/Spanish style, with mexican style pine furniture. Caned ceilings & hand made wooden shutters combine the traditional with the modern and also complement the Moorish influence of this part of Spain. The newly fitted American Kitchen has all the facilities you have come to expect, dishwasher, washing machine, hob, oven, combination microwave, and large family fridge/freezer, and is incorporated into the large open plan lounge. The lounge is also comfortably furnished with large leather sofas. All the water for the Villa is supplied from the same spring that supplies the mineral water bottling plant. Flat screen TV with an English satellite system make the lounge most inviting, but with a 19m by 4m south facing veranda framing those incredible panoramic views of the mountains, I know where Id want to be and its not indoors. Its simply the perfect place to kick back, open a bottle of wine and enjoy the good life with friends old or new at anytime of the day or night. During the summer a large table is set up on the veranda
for leisurely meals, along with tables on the sundeck. The main bathroom is very large and features a full wet-room area with shower, bidet and a full sized bath. There is a second shower room at the other end of the house and another bathroom/shower toilet in the Casita with a further shower by the pool. The infinity pool is part walled for privacy and yet again south facing. Its raised so that the infinity end looks out over the gardens, the valley and your own private wood, the pool can be reached by a gentle ramp, at present we do not have a hoist but we hope to have one installed by summer. The pool area also has a gate and is lockable; its 2m at
its deepest so due to its depth and the infinity end, the pool is not
suitable for children unless they are well supervised by Parents. For
children a small inflatable pool can be made available on request. Outside During your stay most of your time will be spent outdoors, either by the pool, lounging in the welcome shade of the Veranda or down on the extensive sun deck, or perhaps even biking or walking in the surrounding Countryside, the local landowners are very friendly. The garden has palms and pine trees, surrounded by raised
beds of flowers and being mostly flat its wheelchair friendly. Sun loungers and recliners abound, and cane and wicker
chairs that can be used outside are also to be found all over the house. Below the pool, is the decked sun-terrace which also has recliners and sunbeds. Summer Kitchen It features a complete covered summer kitchen with full sized fridge, hob, sink & a separate BBQ area. You dont have far to go for that cold drink, a basket on a rope means you can easily hoist cool drinks and snacks straight to poolside! Accessibility The main house, gardens and facilities, have been made as wheelchair friendly as possible but the house is not specifically aimed or intended for people with a physical disability. We are Carers with over 15 years of experience and we are happy to be able to offer the chance of a Supported Holiday in Spain available by request for anyone who wishes to travel but who would need a helping hand, for whatever reason or disability. Please contact us for further details and rates. For booking and further information Mark Everall
