Wheelchair Accessible Apartment in Andalucia, Spain

My name is Jacci Sheehy and I have worked in the field of supporting individuals with a wide range of disabilities for 26 years. I also have a brother who is quadraplegic.

Whilst living in the UK I found it almost impossible to find good quality holiday accommodation suitable for people who needed more than a handrail by the loo. Therefore I have recently opened a holiday apartment in Andalucia, which is fully equipped to accommodate guests who are unable to leave their wheelchairs unaided. We are also able to offer care and catering packages to suit our guests needs, and have a wide range of accessible activities which can be booked locally or prearranged. These include quad biking, horse riding, off roading, fishing, painting and possibly even abseiling. The list goes on, we are also happy to arrange day trips for sight seeing, shopping etc.

The Accommodation

The guest accommodation comprises of a large lounge/kitchen area. The lounge is furnished with a large double sofa bed (which comfortably sits 4), satellite TV, and an entertainment unit equipped with music, DVDs, videos, books and games, for both children and adults. The apartment is equipped with the following equipment for use as required: Manual Hoist (guests will need to provide their own slings) Removable shower seat Hydraulic bed Pool hoist (All maintained to British standards.)

The kitchen is adapted for wheelchair users. It is equipped with full size oven, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and blender. Guests can also make use of a separate freezer. The large bedroom is fully airconditioned and can be furnished as required by guests, with either single beds, one with a hydraulic lift, double bed, bunk beds or any combination required. Travel cot and baby bouncer seat are also available.

The en-suite shower/wet room is fully wheelchair/hoist accessible with access to the toilet from the front and right side only. It is equipped with a removable shower seat, handrails at the toilet and shower areas, and can be fitted with a raised toilet seat if required. Patio furniture and gas barbeque are also provided. There is shared use of the pool which is accessible via the use of a pool hoist or steps and ladder.
