The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation

The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) is committed to funding research that develops treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders. The Foundation also vigorously works to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities through its grants program, paralysis resource center and advocacy efforts.

Since 1982, CRPF has awarded $42.5 million in research grants to the world’s best neuroscientists. CRPF grants are catalytic. The Foundation supports new initiatives, takes smart risks, and makes sure our research dollars are utilized to maximize their effectiveness.

In addition, through our Quality of Life Grants program, CRPF has awarded nearly $3.5 million since 1999 to nonprofit organizations that help improve the daily lives of people living with paralysis, particularly spinal cord injuries.

The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation is unique, driven by people who share the same fierce hope and dedication. Our motto, “We must. We can. We will.” signals to the world that we are resolutely dedicated to our mission and that we will triumph.

We are proud of our world-renowned research programs and commitment to improving the lives of people living with paralysis.  The Foundation offers a bevy of stories for journalists to tell – from established researchers committed to discovering treatments for paralysis; to the Consortium on Spinal Cord Injury’s post doctoral fellows just embarking on their careers; from over 70 annual Quality of Life grant recipients who improve opportunities, access and day-to-day quality of life for individuals living with disabilities; to our Action Network members who are part of a team of people who believe in the potential of science and in the regulation of stem cell research and therapeutic cloning by the United States government.

All of these stories have one thing in common – they define the indefatigable spirit of the human heart and mind.
